pumpkin proposal

this is too cute not to share…

pumpkin proposal

two weekends ago, a couple took a fall drive to mount sugarloaf in deerfield, massachusetts.  at the top of the mountain, they looked down onto a field where the cute boyfriend spelled out “ari, please marry me” with 1000 pumpkins.  i love it—this is a great proposal story!  read the full story here.

happy weekend!

i hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend.  we are looking forward to visiting with family, relaxing, watching some movies, cheering for our football teams, and running errands, but a big part of me wishes instead that we could be here…

seaside surf girls

wouldn’t a small town beach vacation be nice right now?!  i am so looking forward to taking baby jack here one day SOON (or escaping for a weekend alone with just david…)- both sound lovely.

daydream believer

i love my life!  all of it, even the “day to day”- what’s not to love when your best friend shares your house and comes home to you every night and you live with the cutest dog-ter around?!.  yet, sometimes i dream of picking it all up and spending my day elsewhere…especially when i am staring an on call weekend at the hospital in the face!

seaside beach

wouldn’t it be lovely to be here instead???

seaside town

happy weekend to everyone!  i hope you get to enjoy a few days of no work and lots of play.

and, this, its adorably lovely!  i love the color!  doesn’t it look like it belongs in a seaside town…what a great place that would be to raise a family.

have a wonderful weekend, my friends!  we are off to new york tonight for a 3 day mini vacation…looking forward to it!

it’s a time to play

this article really tugs at my heart strings.  homework in kindergarten??! - how absurd!  but, what makes me really sad is that kindergarten students in LA (where the stats for this article were collected from) only spend an average of 19 minutes a day in free play!  yikes!  it is a terrifying thought to wonder how our children will respond when they “grow up” and have to figure out how to schedule and fill their own time…

let’s let kids be kids!  get out this weekend and PLAY!

a brain like baby food

i have been a terrible blogger lately (so many of you have pointed that out!) and i am sorry.  the absence in posts was completely unintentional, but i do have several excuses for why i have been so out of touch…

1.  my brain has turned into baby food!  i’m not kidding…its all things baby in my little head right now and instead of beating baby thoughts into all of you, i chose to spare you by not writing since i have a serious lack of creativity outside of baby decorating!

2.  i have been very busy at work (where i usually create my posts) and have not felt like sitting in front of the computer at night at home to write.

well, i am attempting to be back at it, but this does not mean that my mind is off of the baby.  i am going to try to mix it up and create varying posts like before and try very hard not to turn this into a mommy blog, but i have to say…this is going to be VERY hard!  just look what i have to look forward to…awww!!!

sugar is back in?

i wrote a post back in october about my distaste for people who have an unrational fear of sugar.  well, the new york times just recently wrote an article about sugar’s “comeback” in light of the public’s negative perception of high fructose corn syrup.  beginning with its opening phrase, “Sugar, the nutritional pariah that dentists and dietitians have long reviled…,” the article leads its readers to believe that all sweeteners are evil and that if you  happen to be against the corn sweetener industry that you are clearly an “unknowledgable consumer.”

instead of focusing on the growing problem of obesity in america, this article has pooled the two schools of thought together, claiming that both high fructose corn syrup supporters and sugar supporters are wrong and “no sweetner or no sugar” is right.

let’s face it, sugar exists.  let’s learn how to eat around it by keeping it out of foods that it doesn’t belong in, learn how to eat whole foods instead of those that are pieced and processed, and to save REAL sugar for what it was made for- to make our life sweeter.
